The Harris Institute for Assured Information is currently searching for Computer Science and Software Engineering students to work 20 hours per week to pursue diverse research in cybersecurity, network communications, and distributed systems.

HIAI Research Assistant - AY20-21

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, write, and test software systems for cybersecurity, network communications, and distributed systems
  • Build and configure virtual cyber scenarios
  • Execute and evaluate cyber experiments
  • Assist in writing reports and publications
  • Work individually and with others
  • Think critically and creatively with only high-level direction
  • Learn and implement new technologies quickly

Education/Skills required:

  • Major in Computer Sciences/Software Engineering
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (no exceptions)
  • Java proficient
  • Ubuntu or other Linux from the command line proficient
  • Layer 2 and layer 3 networking familiar
  • Virtualization, e.g. VirtualBox, VMware, KVM familiar
  • SQL or noSQL databases desired
  • C/C++ desired
  • Relevant experience with internships, personal projects, or other extra-curriculars is a plus
